SuperFast South Yorkshire set to fund Connectivity & Technology projects across Sheffield City Regions
If South Yorkshire Businesses are not already Super-Fast, they soon will be with this generous funding scheme set to launch this week. As Superfast South Yorkshire (SFSY) is rolling out ‘fibre broadband’ across the Sheffield City Region (including Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham & Sheffield) – it is perfect timing that the government is also offering small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) within this region, the chance to claim funding towards an upgrade in connectivity.
What makes this scheme really unique is that there is also an Innovation Voucher scheme available to organisations simultaneously in South Yorkshire, which has been introduced to enable SMEs to invest in IT and technology projects which will enable improved business performance.
How can your business benefit?
“As businesses are becoming more and more dependent on new technologies to operate efficiently, their broadband connection has never been more important in terms of their ability to perform to maximum potential,” says Neil Hutchinson, Business Communications expert from Everything Voice.
Whether your business needs to communicate better with customers or mobilise it’s workforce with a hosted voice solution, or even to migrate storage and backup processes to the cloud, all of these options offer huge benefits to SMEs, including reduced costs, greater flexibility and improved resilience. Moreover they would all potentially qualify for funding at present.
In such a competitive marketplace, these Connection and Innovation schemes have been prioritised by local funding bodies to open up immediate opportunities to SMEs for growth at a greatly subsidised cost.
How much can you claim?
For organisations that wish to pursue either the Innovation and/or Connectivity funding, they are entitled to 50% of the cost excluding VAT. If you’re specifically looking to improve your connectivity speed, projects to the value of between £1,000 and £5,000 can be funded, and for the Innovation Fund which covers a broad range of technology and IT related projects, there is an entitlement of between £5,000 and £24,999 available.
“Set to launch this week, we can expect to see widespread engagement from businesses across the region and so advise that if your business has a technology related project in mind for 2017, now is the time to progress and invest, before the funding runs out,” Neil continues. Following the success of a previous Connection Voucher scheme in the region, which closed in October 2015, it is anticipated that this one will be just as well received.
Eligibility and Applications
With the official marketing campaign set to launch this week, now is a great time to get started on the application where timeframes for a decision and the chances of funding being available are much higher. As news of the funding extends across the region, it is expected that due to its popularity, the cash will run out fast and so getting in early is key.
It is understood that if your business works in the B2B sector, is privately owned and has <250 employees, your application is pretty much guaranteed to be accepted. Everything Voice has worked alongside other funding schemes of this kind and using this experience, now offers full support throughout the entire application process, whether that be defining the project specification, completing the application form or as a technology solutions provider, we are also happy to simply advise on the best technology option for your business.
Together with our sister company NETprotocol, we offer a suite of Connectivity and Hosted solutions which are being placed high on the agenda of SMEs today. These include Unify’s world-class Hosted Telephony and Unified Communications platform, plus other Hosted/Cloud-based solutions including Storage, Backup, Disaster Recovery and IT Security.
“As a local firm founded in Yorkshire and also a fellow SME, our business is driven by the technology needs of this sector and so we understand the priorities that firms will be working towards in light of the funding being made available. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to partner with SMEs across the Sheffield City region, helping them maximise their potential for growth and success in 2017 through technology.” Neil concludes.
